Frequently Asked Art Restoration Questions

Frequently Asked Questions

Where are you located?

We are located at 32427 Schoolcraft Rd, Livonia, MI 48150. Our facility is on the south side of Schoolcraft, just before Hubbard.

What are your hours?

Our standard operating hours are Monday through Friday, 9AM to 5PM. Please contact us in advance at (248) 957-8611 to schedule an appointment. Appointments may be setup outside standard operating hours. No walk-ins, please.

Can you give me an estimate over the phone?

Unfortunately, no. Correctly assessing an object is a complex process that requires years of education and training. It is necessary to see the artwork and assess the damage to provide a proper estimate.

Do you perform collection surveys?

Yes. Surveys include documenting and prioritizing conservation needs of the collection, assessing the building and storage facilities, reviewing environmental conditions, etc. Please contact us for further information.

Do you do appraisals? What is my object worth?

Conservators are not trained to conduct appraisals. If you require an appraisal of your object, we suggest that you contact Kelly Knoll at http://www.HeritageAppraisalsMI.com or a professional organization such as the American Society of Appraisers.

Do you store artwork?

Lis Art Conservation does have the capacity to store artwork. Please contact us for details.

Will you travel to examine my artwork?

It is usually best to bring the artwork to our facility. When it is not possible, arrangements can be made for a conservator to travel to you. There is a fee for travel.
